SOUTH CREAKE TENNIS CLUB
REPORT FOR YEAR ENDING APRIL 2010
The summer of 2009 was, in Norfolk, one of dry weather. It was a good season here for holiday makers and for South Creake Tennis Club; we had our highest recent figures of members and play on the
courts. Players of all ages enjoyed the safety and comfort of grass, with some 5 year olds attending the coaching sessions and some veterans enjoying the give of the turf which softens impact on
weight-bearing joints.
Eleven families took out membership allowing free play for the season while casual play was booked 151 times. Several families enjoyed frequent use of the courts and one local family made regular
bookings for three generations to play together once a week. Parents playing tennis with their children was very much a feature. Other bookings were made by the Fakenham group that provides day
care for people with learning disabilities.
We had three coaching sessions in the holidays, one of which was rained off. Groups attending were small but enthusiastic.
Running repairs were carried out by Rodney Wakeman on the hut which stores equipment. We had no other major repairs or purchases during the year. We share use of some equipment with our neighbour,
the Bowls Club and the two clubs enjoy a mutually supportive relationship regarding maintenance.
The finances are in reasonable shape and available for inspection at Burnside, Back Lane.
For the second year we are members of British Tennis and enjoy benefits of insurance and other potential features. We are included in their Places to Play feature, and there are plenty of encouraging
programmes to promote play and club development.
As last year, we look forward to progress being made on the Memorial Pavilion and deplore the outside and inside interference which is causing costly delay on this development for the local community.

Hon. Chairman
